Day off for post call HOs

The Star reported:

Trainee doctors will now get a day off after carrying out their 24-hour on-call duty.

Health Minister Datuk Liow Tiong Lai said the directive will take effect immediately.

He said it applies only to housemen on active call and at the hospital the entire time.

“We will not let these trainee doctors be overworked. We will look into their welfare,” he told reporters yesterday after visiting the Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital.

How about you all? did anyone of you get post call off?

Penguin in Kuching

Penguin moved to Kuching on 1 November. Her parents were so sad as she always bought them food and was the noisiest daughter at home. When I was home, everyone complained me for being talkative. Now, they are going to miss my voice! Muahaha...

My parents called me the second day I moved in Kuching. The first thing they told me was, “Ah mei, Ah mei, our house now is very quiet. Your brothers all went out tonight, leave two of us at home. No one talk to us. We are so lonely.”

Oi oi... I am alone at home everyday when the rest going out around 6 am and only coming back around 6pm. Daniel got 7 calls this month!! Anyway, Thanks God, yesterday was the last call.

The third day my sister-in-law called. She was worried that bull will bully me. Aiyo, he is good. He even doesn’t have time to look at me, how can he bully me? The first thing he does everyday after work is watching movie or surfing net. Don’t worry, I am an adult already. Give me a chance to learn so that I can be more mature!

My mum was the one who wash, dry & fold my clothes. Now, I have to do everything by myself. My mum doesn’t like us to interfere with her daily errands. Thus, both of my sisters-in-law do not have to do house chores.

Well, I forgot to put in detergents the first time I washed my clothes. I overshot the house twice. When I was busy looking for the house, Daniel was giggling at the passenger seat. Well, I only realized that I overshoot when he waved and said, “bye bye”, to the house! (>_<) He purposely took two-days off helping me to familiarize with the routes in Kuching. Well, we visited the Fish Muzium. I was attracted by a statue in a park. Later only found out in Sarawak Muzium that, the statue was to attract the prey to walk into the trap, which is set next to the statue. Hmmm...if I were born in stone age, I might be their meal already.

Moron, that's to attract prey, girl!

I doubted if I can remember within 2 days?! Lastly, he decided to borrow me his E71. (His heart was bleeding the moment he handed over his phone). Well, E71 is not reliable though. It must be sad to be apart from its owner. I was lost after sending Daniel to hospital but that E71 kept telling me, "LOST SATELITE RECEPTION, LOST SATELITE RECEPTION...........LOST.....". FINE! I stop at the roadside, TELL ME ONCE YOU FOUND YOUR RECEPTION!

I will start working next week. I hope that the boss is good, the colleagues are good, the working environment is good......God, please bless me.

My Bro's Big Day

1 September 2008 was my eldest brother's wedding day. They had started the preparation in June but I was only instructed to carry an umbrella on the wedding day. Following are few photos taken on the wedding day.

Picture taken in front of church (I was still on duty to carry the umbrella)

not forgotten, my "little white" which consumes RM800 from my salary every month

My 'twin' brother and sister in law

My brother was asked to find out the bride's hands and my cousins were busy fooling him around. He failed in this session. We gave him another chance by touching the part that he like the most. Everyone were so excited waiting for his answer......... ears, don't think too much.

His wedding makes me think a lot on marriage. I once thought that marriage is to tight my boy friend so that he won't run away. But I change my mind when I saw the number of divorce cases handled by my lawyer. Last month, I saw a middle-age man crying in my lawyer's room as the wife abandoned him. Don't cry, MAN! May be your wife dumped you because of your weak personality.

I began to have the idea that marriage is just a formal procedure to declare to the world that someone and someone are couple. Nothing more than that. If someone meant to leave you, he/she will still leave you although you have a dozen of children.

For the time being, I think I only want to travel in Sarawak with someone in Kuching together with my "Little White"!

With first big salary...come some big purchases

2 months had passed since my first day reporting in for job.

2 months of grueling life as a houseman....
...and it all paid off...with 1 big salary :)

what better to do with the money than to reward oneself with something good...
say hi to my new mobile...

tada....
i noticed kk also bought himself a new toy, so i cannot lose up. I don't have all the time in the world to do an unboxing post like him.

The camera on my new device kinda suck, notice all the purple hue evident on the pictures of this post. However it's good enough to take pictures to post to the web which is what i normally do for pictures taken with my mobile, so not really a bit problem for me. Other than that, i'm totally in love with it...and it comes with a gps installed with 'ahem' version of garmin xt and latest malsing map. It's just sooo ecstatic  to hear it say 'drive 1.9km and turn right', 'drive 100m and reach destination at left'...call me a suaku, but it really helps me navigate kuching which had some of the stupidest road system i've ever seen.

And this is my new ride...it's small, it's efficient, and it's cute...but it already got some minor scratches here and there after just 1 month... :( btw, check out the number plate as well :)

Btw, how's everyone doing? i'm kinda losing my insanity here....this job is really eating up my life...

What a diagnosis...

This article is taken from the Sin Chew today regarding an NS trainee who died in the camp after some 'stomach upset'. The phrase bracket in red reads: 'the doctor in the hospital said that she is constipated, leading to intestinal obstruction and this resulted in her heart been attacked by bacteria which ultimately leads to her death'.

Whoah! that's so much of cock! Pardon me, even with my very limited medical knowledge as a *ahem* newly graduated medical doctor, I'm speechless with the particular doctor's statement.

Well, it might be a wrong report as this came from the victim's parents and they may had misinterpreted the doctor's words. Let's hope that next time when the reporters report such things, please verify with the hospital staff first before printing it out as even a lay man can tell you that this is so full of shit (which was pointed out by my father or else i would had never read it).

Pity Bull on Election Day

Someone was so excited to be an eligible voter, telling me how good is he as a Malaysian, lecturing me for not appreciating the rights I have as Malaysian.
He must be very happy to be able to cast a vote on the election day (i guess). He brought me to Blueberry and ordered himself a bottle of beer and a glass of cocktail on Thursday night.

Last night, he finished the whole plate of "Ikan Bakar" while I was busy at the tuition center. That is my FAVOURITE! He did not even think of buying some for me!
Today, he received the punishment:-

eat la, eat la.. dare you to eat my favourite again without me?!

Oooi! Wake up, wake up.. You need to cast the vote for "Bintulu's Future"..

haih.... It is obvious that I have to let him rest. I can only hang out with my second boy friend.
Bull, please get well soon!
Daniel White, talk to me, talk to me.. I will bring you for dinner afterwards, how about dining at Shell? or you prefer Petronas?
