Creating your own photobook

Ever wonder what to do with your vacation photos when you come back from a big holiday? Chuck it in your computer hard drive and nobody gets to see it? share it with friends through internet but is frustrated that you cannot see their jelousy face directly?

Miss the old time when you can share it by printing out 3R or 4R pictures but think that the way of presentation far too dull for you?

Well, we can now print our own photobook for our own collection or for gifts to give your friends and family. There are 3 companies who create photobooks in Malaysia currently: pixart, photobook malaysia and ecazstudios. More information can be read here (Star Intech) or directly link to their sites.

I'm going to show you my own pocketbook made by pixart when i went for my trip in K.K last Nov. The cost was RM59 including postage fee with 20 colour pages.

Here's a frontpage view

This is the size of the book compared to a 3R size photo. The measurement is 5.5 inches high and 7.7 inches wide

This is roughly how it look like inside

Overall, I'm quite happy with the built of this book and i think it's money well worth to keep a hard copy of your wonderful memories. However, some picture quality do seem to be a bit grainy even to a novice like me! It's certainly more enjoyable when you share your stories with those you love.

I'll Miss ya'..

Another week to go, I'll be going back to Bintulu. I cherish every moment that I've spent in Penang.

The thing that surprise me the most in USM is the park. There are many lizards strolling here and there in the park. I have to be very careful when I jog in the park. I might be dragged into the lake if I stepped on them! No worry, they actually afraid of human. I only had to keep an eye on them when they came up for sunbathing.

Besides the Lizards, there are plenty of delicious food that you can find in the campus.

This mountain-like Ice Kacang is my favourite and it only cost me RM1.

This nasi lemak is the most tasty nasi lemak that i've ever had.

Besides, I'm gonna miss the food in Penang...

Penang steamboat.

The colorful "tan yuan" made of glutinous rice.

The popular Cendol at Penang Road.

Woon Teng's home-made New Year Biscuits!

Besides the food, the double-decker buses are now available in Penang.

And the shuttle buses in the campus. Although I always ended up walking back to my hostel after lecture, the shuttle buses were convenient on rainy days.

Finally my hostel. It is distance away from my school, but it provides the most hygienic environment to the students compare to the other hostels in the campus.

Oh, sayonara!

Crab feast in Choy Kee

Image Hosted by <span class=

If you ask me what's the food that represent Seremban the most? I would not tell you that it is a siew pao. In stead, I'll recommend you to stop by Choy Kee and have a taste of their salted egg crab....it's simply one of the best crab i tried ever.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Yesterday, after a depressing paeds final posting exam, I decided to divert my misery to something delicious, hence, i went for crabs. However, the salted egg crabs is not for everyone. This is what Su Lin said...

"ee....what's this fishy smell???"

"emm....i think is the crab..." continue munching on my delicious crab...

"no....it's the egg...i cannot eat this, yurg!!!"

haha...in the end, i wallap the whole 2 crabs myself...it's like heaven! The crab is sooo nice that i licked dried all the gravy and still crave for more....the price is pretty reasonable as well, totalling at RM62.50 for 3 dishes shown above.

If you drop by Seremban for any reason (seriously, i don't see any reason to come here, besides for the crabs of course), drop by Choy kee....their crabs are seriously good. Haven't try other flavours though, only came here twice. Will try them later if i got more spare cash to spend.

Before Viva...

My viva will be held on next Monday.. I don't want to put too much pressure on myself. It will only make my performance worsen and make me become more nervous. I do what I can. I don't expect more from myself. Besides, I refuse to push myself too much. I'm happy to be average.

My elder brother was very motivated after he joined a direct sell (his part time). Now he is doing fine in the sells. I remembered that my elder brother scolded me for being so unambitious. But then he is lazy to talk to me after I told him the following statement...

"emm...emm... you know, there must be a failure only then others can see the succeeder. And.. I don't mind others contrast me (as the failure) with you(as the succeeder)!"

"MuMmy!! Your daughter is hopeless!"

I don't feel uneasy as my friend told me that my examiner could be Prof. R. ha... He is lenient. Moreover, he is my PA (Penasihat Akademik). So, you understand la. But I do prepare for my viva seriously, especially the Q&A session.

And here is the real killer... My supervisor!! Thus, for those students who get him as their examiner, God Bless You! Hey, I'm not easy too. He told us that he is going to ask us question if the examiner have no question for us. To be frank, he is not stingy in giving marks. The thing that my coursemates afraid of is the Q&A session. My supervisor's questions always appear to be challenging and need more thinking.

Well, he is only the "killer" in molecular biology. There are other "killers" in fermentation biology, Prof. IB and Dr. Y from Virology. They are the real killer! Because of Prof. IB, because of him, my CGPA dropped like hell last semester. Most of us got C+ and B- in his paper. As a result, we have no Dean's list from Microbiology last semester. What a shame.. If only he let us scored well, half of the class will be in the Dean's list.

Luckily I didn't take his subject this semester. Phew!

It's All Coffee's Fault!

Ahh.... I can't sleep. It's all because of the ice coffee that I've drunk this.. no, it's already 4.00am! Should be yesterday's afternoon!

I seldom drink coffee. I never need it to help me stay awake as I never burn mid-night oil. Yes, I'm afraid of the DARK. especially when I'm alone.

I can't just lay there doing nothing?? Get up, get up, do something else.

How about reading?

No way! I never like reading.. Fortunately I'm not medical student or i would be kicked out from the Medical school.

Wait, what's that song? I Need Some Sleep? Well, I really need some SLEEP! Stop bugging someone who is sleepless.

How about watching movie?

Let's see what I have... The Descent... I think it'll make me awake all the night!

Little Children? Sigh, forget about movie, it'll take me 2-3 hours to watch.

Ah... Only yesterday I found out that the Hokkien Mee in Seremban is different from Penang Hokkien Mee.

Ya, this is Seremban Hokkien Mee.

I was extremely upset when I saw the fried mee appeared on the table. That so called Mee Goreng Basah at my home town wasn't the Hokkien Mee that I wanted.

This is Penang Hokkien Mee!

Pity me, I didn't eat spicy food for almost a week! Oh.. I miss Tomyam soup, Penang Hokkien Mee, Penang Loh Mee, chicken curry.. yummy..yummy...

I think I better try to sleep now. Maybe I will dream of those spicy food that i miss so much.

Pity Pen Torch & Biscuits

I noticed that the bull went to ward without bringing his pen torch on Monday.. I was thinking to call and ask him but he left behind his HANDPHONE too!!

I gave him the pen torch once he reached home..

"Oh, It's dead."

(I was a bit disappointed as he didn't take care of the pen torch that I bought for him one year ago)

"Hmm? How come? You dropped it?"

"Nope."

"Then?"

"Dunno."

"It could be running out of battery gua..."

"...Dunno..."

"Fine, let's get new batteries tomorrow and see."

(Obviously, it was running out of battery, kay?!!)

After exchanging the batteries...

"Okay, i've revived your pen torch. I wonder, how you survived for the past few weeks without pen torch? You don't need it, do you?"

"hmm? There's no test.So I don’t really need it."

"Then, if I didn't come to Seremban, what you gonna do on Wednesday?"
(This fellow got test on Wednesday.)

"Borrow from friend."

"…..."

I went back to my temporary territory thinking of enjoying another thing that I’ve bought secretly when I purchased the batteries at 7-11.

Tiger Biscuits!!

But when I opened it…

“ee? What’s that sound?”

“hmm?? I didn’t hear anything..”

“What are you hiding?” (came towards me)

“Hiding? Certainly no!”

“Give it to me..”

“…..what?..”

“You know…”

“Fine…” (I handed him my favorite Tiger biscuits..)

“Wah…haha..haha…You shouldn’t have…..bla bla…double chins…heavy bottom….big stomach….arms…leg…you see..bla bla..”

(..''') This man nags more than my elder brother on my weight. Now even worse, my sister-in-law has joined the nagger group!!

I didn’t really listen to him as those words are the MUST in his lecture. So, just get the keywords. (haha…. :p) I know they nag for my own good. But..but..the biscuits are seductive!!

I think I heard the Tiger biscuits screamed, "Help! Help!" in the tin.

You see, all the biscuits were under his guard. I have no choice but to wait till the next morning.

Who knows, I woke up in the morning and saw that fellow munching my Tiger biscuits happily!!

I think I heard the biscuits screamed for help again.

Look at his EVIL eyes!!

Gurr..!! I should wake up earlier!

Ee? He remembered to bring the pen torch finally.

The Public Speaking Club (U.X.M)

I joined the club to prepare myself for the final year viva. I need to overcome the fear of stage and crowd!!

The members of the club will be assigned six assignments. The member needs to complete the assingments in order to get the certificate of participation.

The interesting part of the club is:

While presenting, there is a timer reminding you if you have exceeded the time.

After presentation, the "AH" counter (calculate how many ah, umm, hmm, oh... and unnecessary conjunctions that you have made) will tell you, " Miss Chien, you have 2 umm's, 18 ah's, and 5 unnecessary "and"...

Next, the grammarian. As the name implies, this person will correct the grammar mistakes from the speech. "Miss Chien, you have few grammar mistakes. Instead of there are some "dog", it is "dogs"..(woo..it wasn't my fault, it's "dogs" in my speech...but..but...I can't pronounce the "s" properly...)

Finally, the evaluator, who will evaluate your performance according to your eye contact, body gesture, voice and speech content. "Well, Miss Chien, you have successfully planted yourself on the ground (no movements....haha....). Besides, try to have proper eye contact with your audience. Your voice is good but try to improve your body gesture, you are not tree...(haha..ha...)

Well, at least i've confidence to stand on the stage (no bad though) after i finishing all the six assignments. If I further study in Penang in the future, I'll join the Penang Toastmaster Club, where I can impove more by doing more assignments.

What would you do before examination?

My final exam was over. From today onwards, there'll be no more exam in my life! HAHAHA...

However, there is a viva awaiting me next Monday. As long as it's not a paper test, i'll not be nervous and stress like hell. I supposed to prepare for the viva in Penang but I wanted to see someone (you know who),who has tests on this coming Wednesday and Thursday, before i fly back to Sarawak. Moreover, the problem of stalker sneaking into bathroom worsen at my hostel. That insane stalker had sneaked into my module TWICE!! Thus, it is better for me to stay away from the hostel before viva.

Since someone needs to do his revision, he had prepared a paper of Perjanjian XX for me. I have to sign the agreement or he will not allow me to go Seremban.

PERJANJIAN XX
1. No PS 2. It would be rude if you play the game happily outside while my housemates and I are all under stress!
(okay, since you banned me from playing Metal Slug, there's no game fancy me.)

2. Do not seek for child attention.
(Since when i seek for "child" attention?!!)

3. Exercise.
(Fine. It isn't a tough job for me.)

4. No junk food.
(As long as you have your key with you, I won't be able to sneak out and purchase any junk food from the shop nearby.)

5. Do what you suppose to do for your viva.
(Common, stop Nagging me!)

I signed the agreement without any objection but this "someone" isn't a good role model for me..

When I was studying this afternoon...

Someone is....

SNOoRing happily on the bed!!

Before napping he was day dreaming in front of his computer while watching Bill Gates' short video..

Hey..hey..I want to abolish that agreement (especially statement 4) if you yourself do not do your revision properly..

Today i went to Terminal One to change my Final Fantasy X cd which stucked very soon after I started the game. It was not the first time, I had been there for the past 2 weeks but they told me no stock.

However, this is the first time a girl is manning the shop. Usually I dealt with the guy and he promised me to change it for me as soon as they have new stock.

As usual, I told the girl that my cd is not working...

me: i want to change this, it got stuck. and give me a piece of guitar hero II also...
Girl: ok, wait for a while, I see whether we have the stock
me: ok.
Girl: *after looking at the cd, she pointed the cd at me* sir, sorry, can you look at this?

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
there's a circular fine scratch at the rim of the cd (the bright thing at the rim)

me: wo, why like this one?
girl: i think your ps2 dvdrom got problem de...
me: really? what kind of problem?
girl: I think the unit spoilt de, u see, it can present by scratching your dvd like this, i'm sorry but i cannot change this for you since it's your unit that's spoilt. *after pausing a while* you go back and check your other cds see whether they are like that also. if yes, you have to service your unit de
me: *scared de, gulp* service? how much will it cost..
girl: *muffled cantonese* hundred plus
me: *didn't hear what she said* oh, 18 only?
girl: no, 120 for a non original spare part, if you want sony original one will cost u 300!
me: *what the fuck? same like the price i bought my ps2? fuck you! you really make me scared shit de* huh? so expensive??
girl: you better don't play anymore and send it here fast, if it really spoilt, we can't even repair it anymore. oh ya, do you still wan your guitar hero II?
me: no thanks. *rushed out from the shop worrying my ps2 is gone case de*

after rushing home to check at Final Fantasy XII and God of war 2 (the two most played games for the past 2 weeks), there isn't a single scratch on them!!

fuck you you little sales girl, i felt so noob now to be coned by you! I'm not stepping into your shop again! i suspect that it's you who sell me cd that was already scratched! but on second thought, that's the only shop that sells cds that's compatible with my ps2. Most the other shops' cds seem to have problem...sigh, better check the cd carefully next time i buy from them....

Oh gosh, IMU had change the way i'm going to graduate

it's not a news de, got the notice last week. There's a minor change because LAN beisong how IMU is doing their sem 10 final.

Before the change, the passing criterias are:
1) Sem 10 we only had an exit viva. It's tested base on the portfolios we hand in during the postings in Sem 10
2) CFCS (some stupid crap project that required us to follow up a patient with chronic disease for 2 years) grade: satisfactory

That's it, that's all you need to graduate once u pass the sem 9 finals. let see how the change will affect me:
1) Still an exit viva, but it's renamed to 'clinical examination & portfolio discussion'. The addition of 'clinical examination' means that the things they ask is not confined to what we discuss in our portfolios anymore. So they can basically ask anything under the sun and since it's an one station exam, if u fuck up, you FUCK OFF, no more graduation party...:(
2) an addition of 'ON THE JOB CONTINUOUS ASSESSMENT'. Hell, this mean everyday is examination. Not allow to fail more than once. Yeah right, now sem 10 sounds sooo interesting.
3) CFCS grade: satisfactory

sien. Sem 9 already sound so sien, now sem 10 got some MINOR modification some more....life seem hard ahead...

anyway, enough with my self pity. Su Lin is having her final paper this friday, wish ya all the best darling...:) so envy you....graduate de...i still got one full year ahead...one hard full year...

Life of an ultimate microbiologist in her final year

First let’s take a look at her territory in biotechnology lab. (Even though I’m majoring in microbiology, my final year project has nothing to do with my major. I was given a research related to molecular biology which is a division of biotechnology.)

Well, it’s not easy to be a microbiologist, Meng Seong and I nearly became roasted chicken wings in the lab. A biotech student who operated the autoclave machine without filling distilled water nearly caused an explosion in the lab. Meng Seong and I were culturing the bacteria happily near the autoclave machine!! Fortunately, the postgraduates found out earlier.

I’m not bad though, I nearly burnt myself!! Look at my pity lab coat.. YES, I burnt it when I was spreading the culture at a lamina flow! Phew, it was close! My cultures were all contaminated as I blew out the fire on my lab coat near the culture plate (Foolish!)…

Well, I was not alone in the lab. I have visitors..Ya, they are “Mousey” and “Ratty”. But they were sentenced to death on the charge of larceny (stealing and eating agar plates).

Besides that, I broke my own record by staying awake 26 hours with MC in the lab doing our research a day before we went back for Mid-term break and CNY holiday. MC was amazed as I managed to get the desired genes and clones within the 26 hours. (Thanks God, I went back happily for my holiday.)

Here are some pictures of my seniors, who are positioned in the main lab.

I really appreciate their help during my research. Thank you!

Punishment for leaving me alone

My room mate was quite busy since last week. Okay, I know, this is our final semester. Thus, her “Ke po” + “nothing-to-do” coursemates were busy organizing farewell dinner here and there…Starting at Pizza Hut to Khaleel (a famous mamak), and then Ibu’s Kitchen (That’s why they went there because they are all mummy boys and girls who still need their “IBU” to milk them.)

Besides, the Queensbay shopping mall has become her second home.. Yesterday was the n times she visited that incomplete shopping mall.. She loves the Queensbay so much because there are plenty Japanese restaurants. Well, I don’t like sushi (It’s a food for sissy according to Dan..Actually I hate seaweed! It stinks!)

Gurr... Now, you can at least have an idea on how many days she had left me alone at the hostel. I don’t like to eat alone stupidly at canteen especially DINNER!!

Well, last night, my anger has already exceeded the limit and I decided to punish that little mummy girl who still fancy farewell party like a student of secondary school.

Well, this was her punishment…

(You better not cry, you better not shout, you better not scream, I’m telling you why, Sulin is having her revenge!)

Since she loves to call herself snow white, here I made her dream come true!

Took this pic from inside the church while attending today's Easter Sunday service. I know, I am suppose to listen to sermon but heck, the pastor was busy baptizing people, I must find something to do right? Somehow, the sky gave me a peaceful feeling. Hmm....it's after all Easter Sunday right? The day Jesus rose from the dead, we should rejoice and enjoy the blessings...

Having steamboat in Penang

Since it was the end of the semester and we were finishing our final year project soon, my coursemates wanted to have a little celebration after spending almost one year hard work on our research.

They decided to go Seoul Garden, which located in Gurney shopping complex, to have steamboat. You can see me in formal suit as i went there right after the lauching ceremony of Toastmaster Club.

Kopi loves the restaurant so much as it provides her favourite ice-cream. She took a bowl of ice-cream once she entered the restaurant while the rest were busy choosing food at another corner.

We ordered kimchi soup (on the left) and chinese herbal soup (Sorry, i forgot the name)..

I like the char siew chicken very much..so i covered the whole hot plate with the chicken!

After massive intake of food, i made myself a bowl of "fruit ABC"..

I get myself ice-cream....

finally...some buns..

and we called it a day after window shopping at Gurney...
