Post first weekend call...

This was roughly what happened today:

1) one patient BO (bowel open - lay man's term - shit) all the way while she was bearing down. The smell is horrible...
2) another patient complain of 'wanting to vomit' and before i have time to respond, she had a projectile regurgitation, luckily i'm agile enough to duck...again, the smell later is horrible, somemore kena scolded by staff nurse for not giving her plastic bag...sigh...

Currently feeling down and tired. Why on earth did i choose this kind of dirty job? Anyway, i did learn a lot today as the labour room was full but the staff was limited. I had a very nice chance to follow through patients from the moment they enter the labour room right till i send them back to the ward with their newly born babies on a wheel chair...:) it feels great. Btw, had 'semi-conducted' (with 70% input from the very kind staff nurse) my first delivery today! yay, another 5 to go and i'll be over with my log book!

again...wondering why am i in the medical field???? why??? nobody tell me i have to smell shit and vomitus...why??? why??? and best of all, have to tell patient to 'tahan, kak, mana ada sakit?' when they complain of contraction pain, knowing that i couldn't even bear the slightest of pain....for this, i salute all the mothers for going through this ordeal to giving birth to a new life.

ps: heard Jin Wern said that Batu Pahat has no methodist church, i can't believe it...
